RC Montemor has announced the transfer of Black Stallions Center and Winger; Thankgod Okafor from Cowrie Rugby Club Lagos. The club currently plays in the Portuguese Premier Division. They ‎announced the deal in December 2017 after an agreement was reached with the player through his club.

The big man was born in Nigeria but brought up in South Africa’s Durban province also known as Kwazulu Natal. He joined The Sharks Rugby Academy in 2012 at age 18 and continued to develop through the ranks. He later joined Varsity College in 2015 and Cowrie Rugby Club in 2016.

Reacting to this, the Technical Director of the NRFF, Ntiense Williams described the move as a good move for the player and also for the National team (Black Stallions).

According to him, moving to Portugal; a country that has decent infrastructure for the development of rugby will be good for the winger. Hopefully, he will be selected to represent Nigeria again in the future.
